Riviera Maya in Mexico!

When asked if Mexico is safe to visit, I usually give a reply that while it seems we hear
about every single problem that occurs with our tourists in Mexico just compare what is
also happening here in our own country! I have visited Mexico quite a few times and
have had nothing but very positive experiences. One of my favorite areas is Riviera
Maya.

Visiting Mexico can be safe, but it depends on various factors including the specific
regions you plan to visit and your travel habits. Here are some key considerations to
help ensure a safe trip:
1. Research your destination! Different parts of Mexico vary greatly in terms of safety.
Popular tourist destinations like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Puerto Vallarta, and
Mexico City are generally considered safe, especially in tourist areas. However, certain
regions, particularly near the borders and in some states like Guerrero and Michoacán,
have higher crime rates.
2. Stay informed. Check travel advisories from reliable sources such as the U.S.
Department of State or your country’s equivalent. They provide up-to-date information on
safety and security in various regions.
3. Health precautions: Ensure you're up to date on vaccinations and be mindful of food
and water safety. It's advisable to drink bottled water and eat at reputable
establishments.
4. Transportation: Use reputable transportation services. Your travel agent can pre-
arrange your transfers that are vetted and reliable.
5. Stay in safe tourist areas. Stick to well-known tourist areas and avoid wandering into
unfamiliar neighborhoods, especially at night.

The Riviera Maya is one of my favorite areas. It is a stunning stretch of Caribbean
coastline on Mexico's northeastern Yucatán Peninsula,offering an unparalleled blend of

of Puerto Morelos to the ancient city of Tulum, this region is a treasure trove of
experiences for every type of traveler.

Playa del Carmen';s beaches are perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports.
The town's vibrant Fifth Avenue (Quinta Avenida) is lined with shops, restaurants, and
bars, offering a perfect blend of relaxation and entertainment.

The Riviera Maya is dotted with cenotes, natural sinkholes filled with fresh, crystal-clear
water. These unique geological formations were sacred to the ancient Maya, who
believed they were gateways to the underworld. Today, cenotes like Ik Kil, Dos Ojos,
and Gran Cenote offer visitors a chance to swim, snorkel, and even dive in these
stunning natural pools surrounded by lush jungle.

Xcaret, an eco-archaeological park near Playa del Carmen, offers a unique blend of
natural beauty, cultural heritage, and family-friendly attractions. Visitors can swim in
underground rivers, explore Mayan ruins, and watch traditional performances, including
the spectacular evening show "Xcaret México Espectacular.". The park also features a
butterfly pavilion, a coral reef aquarium, and a sea turtle sanctuary, making it a must-
visit for nature lovers.
