Recently, Jacki Spivey and I attended a Travel Leaders conference in Washington, DC. When making our reservations we considered taking our usual route from ATL to DCA on a non-stop Delta flight. We decided to try out the new Contour flight directly from Macon to Baltimore.
Booking the flight was very simple. They have an easy online booking engine that provides you with a choice of two daily flight times. You can either purchase the cheaper flights that can be as low as $69 or as high as $179, according to the number of seats sold. The cheaper version is the “supersaver rate,” which is non-refundable, but can be exchanged for another ticket for a $25 change fee. The “unrestricted fare” can be cancelled within one hour of departure and rescheduled without a change fee. The best part about the flight was the checking in and boarding process! My husband, Bob, dropped us off at the front of the airport! We walked in, gave our name and driver’s license and we were done! Of course, in true Judy and Jacki fashion, we made a huge deal of this being our first flight with them and had to have our picture made with all the staff! They were so accommodating. We really were impressed with the Macon airport. I never imagined a flight being so easy! When it was time to board the plane we just walked outside the door to the plane. Voila! We walked through a blue tent and we were there! Our seats were extremely comfortable with a lot of leg room. Every seat on Contour is like a comfort seat on Delta. The seats are padded and have plenty of leg room. My biggest surprise was the quiet flight. I had expected a smaller plane to have the loud noise of a smaller commuter plane, but it was just as quiet as a larger flight. Our flight attendant quickly became our best friend, especially when I proceeded to spill my Diet Coke all over myself! She was quickly at my side helping me wipe all around! Each passenger on Contour is allowed, free of charge, one complimentary piece of checked baggage, one carry-on item and one small personal item. The dimensions of checked items may not exceed 90 inches in overall length, width and height, nor exceed 50 lbs. Additional checked items will be subject to an Excess Baggage Fee of $20.00, each way. Any checked bag fees must be paid at the ticket counter prior to departure. In addition to a carry-on bag, passengers may bring one (1) personal item such as a purse, laptop, reading material, umbrella, backpack or camera case. Diaper bags (1 per child) may be brought aboard the aircraft in addition to a personal item. Strollers will be gate checked and made available upon arrival. Contour serves 10 states offering a premium, low-fare airline product that includes a complimentary first checked bag as well as snack and beverage service. Contour operates a growing fleet of Embraer regional jets featuring leather seating with expanded legroom in every row. EVERY seat is a comfort seat!
