There is such a welcoming and warm ambiance to The Ritz-Carlton in Reynolds Plantation at Lake Oconee. Valet parkers are waiting with fresh lemonade, iced cold water bottles, or apple cider before leading you into a wooden-flanked lobby framed by a family-sized stone fireplace on one end and by Finn and Skye, the hotels’ welcoming mascot dogs on the other. While the warmth of the lobby invites you to “Linger Longer” in one of the comfortable sofas, or maybe cue up a game of pool or chess in the adjacent bar, it is the view of the lake that ultimately catches the eye.
“No Shoes, No Shirt…Our Pleasure” is their motto! The Ritz is located on 35 acres of lakefront in the heart of Reynolds, and just next to the Reynolds golf course. The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, has been welcoming guests from around the world, and from around the corner, since 2002. Behind the fabulous hotel rooms, which are all adorned in the usual luxury décor, the backyard of The Ritz-Carlton is like a year-round summer camp for adults and kids. The property winds around with a stream and trees with hammocks that are perfect for curling up with a good book, taking an afternoon nap, or simply swaying away the day. Down on the beach are low- and high-speed water toys. Perhaps you prefer pulling up a stool at the bar or finding a cozy corner of the infinity-edge pool. Whatever you choose to do, you will be spellbound by lake life, Ritz-Carlton style. No visit is complete without making s’mores after dinner around the stacked-stone fire pit as the sun retreats over Lake Oconee, which is one of the signature activities there. For foodies, it is a delight for all different tastes. You can choose to dine very casually by the pool and next to the lake at Gaby’s, where pizza and burgers are cooked to perfection! Georgia’s, in the main building, is the place to get great farm to table offerings that are chosen to represent the state. My very favorite, of course, is Linger Longer, which is more formal and exquisite for fine cuts of meat and tableside carvings. I love the special surprise of cotton candy at the end! For a REAL special treat, you can also choose to have a three-course meal served to you lakeside with your own reserved chiminea! Talk about ROMANTIC!!! I have always dreamed of booking a couple there for their proposal weekend and having the waiter bring the ring out to the couple under a silver domed platter, then opening it to serve to the lady for her special surprise!!!! Fellas, this idea is still up for grabs! The SPA! Among the highlights of this Lake Oconee resort, the spa offers a nearly 30,000 sq.-ft. retreat with extensive relaxation facilities including saunas, steam rooms, cold plunge pools and an expanded ladies’ lounge. Treatments are elevated versions of traditional therapies, and The Spa includes a spacious nail area offer dedicated services. The guys can always get away with spending the day playing one of the best golf courses in Georgia when there is so much for the rest of the family to do on property! You can also dock your boat there or even rent a boat! There are so many fun things to do at this property…and just a little over an hour away!
