Judy and I just returned from an amazing cruise onboard the Silversea Spirit. It was my first time on a Silversea cruise and I loved it! With a butler in every suite, delicious food and a wonderful itinerary, what is not to love?!!!
Silversea is a luxury cruise line that was founded in Monaco and sold in July of 2018 to the Royal Caribbean Group. They currently have 11 ships including the newest, the Nova, which was launched this summer and a group from Macon will be sailing on in September. Our ship, the Spirit, was fully remodeled in 2018 and they were able to add 34 additional cabins to bring the total passenger capacity to 608 passengers. Silversea is very well know for their service and staff. Passengers rarely receive a request denial and Judy and I put that to the test! No whipped cream for the ice cream - we will find you some - and they did! Silversea ships are all inclusive and include complimentary wines and spirits, specialty coffees, bottled water, an in-suite bar stocked with your favorites drinks, 24 hour room service, laundry room use, unlimited wifi and gratuities. Dining is included except for dinner in 2 of the 8 restaurants. No need to pay extra though if you don’t want to, the included restaurants are delicious! I had lobster almost every night! Unlike a lot of other cruise lines, there aren’t scheduled dinner times. On Silversea, you can make reservations at 6 of the restaurants and the other 2 you can dine at them at any time you want. There are also many great excursions included at each of the amazing ports. We began our trip in Venice, Italy and we were supposed to be there 2 days early but our first flight had issues and we were delayed for a day. You never know what is going to happen when you travel so it is always advisable to arrive a day or more before your cruise just in case. You wouldn’t want to miss the boat! Plus it was fun to explore Venice for a day. We were in St. Mark’s Square in the afternoon and everything was fine. By nighttime, the tide was high and St. Mark’s was flooding so we went and waded in the water - a sight to behold! On to the boat to explore and settle into our cabin once our luggage arrived. All the suites have a walk in closet with a large dresser and safe - plenty of room! The bathrooms have a shower and a tub and are quite nice and include the great smelling Bulgari bath products. Of course they have a hairdryer too so you don’t have to lug it along. Our cruise had scheduled stops in the the port cities of Ravenna, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Corfu, Olympia, Crete and Santorini. We got to see parts of 4 different countries all without having to pack and unpack our suitcase. We toured the city of Dozzo, walked around the walled town of Dubrovnik, found the street where the ladies make pasta in Bari, tasted wine at the largest winery in Europe in Kotor, shopped in beautiful Corfu, learned about the history of Crete on the hop on hop off bus and toured hotels in Oia while in Santorini. Each stop provided a unique experience and every day we saw and did wonderful things. If we were back on the boat in time, we enjoyed afternoon trivia followed by dinner, dancing to the DJ in the Panorama Lounge and then a little time in the casino. It was an amazing 13 days and I highly recommend Silversea! Their mission statement is “with expertise and a commitment to unlocking unforgettable experiences for our likeminded guests, we seek to provide life-enriching adventures in utmost comfort and unprecedented luxury.” They exceeded their mission!
